A medium close-up photograph capturing a smiling woman seated at an office desk. --- ### Foreground Subject * **The Woman:** She has long straight hair that transitions from dark roots to blonde ends. She is looking back over her shoulder toward the camera with a bright smile. She is wearing a dark top under a textured, sleeveless maroon vest or jacket. --- ### Background Elements * **Office Workspace:** She is seated in an office cubicle or desk area. To her left, several white wall-mounted document trays hold organized papers and folders. * **Desk Supplies:** On the right side of the desk behind her, a desk organizer holds white binders, folders, and legal envelopes. A red folder with a blue adhesive note on it lies flat on the desk surface in the lower-left foreground.

So when presented with an opportunity to work part-time at the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory (Berkeley Lab) in a clerical position, she began there as a temporary employee, working four hours a day.
