He is looking slightly to his right. * **The Wheelchair:** He is seated in a wheelchair featuring a prominent black headrest backdrop and black curved upper support bars or handles behind his shoulders. * **The Dog:** Rested in the foreground across the man's lap is a small, short-haired brown dog (resembling a Chihuahua mix) with large, erect ears. The dog's eyes are mostly closed or squinting. --- ### Background * **Setting:** The background is a plain, light neutral-colored wall or partition, keeping the focus entirely on the man and his dog.

At three years old, Sam suffered a severe asthma attack that left him quadriplegic. When EBI staff met Sam almost 20 years later, he was exiting high school. EBI staff quickly realized that with Sam’s changing needs it was critical that he move to a physically accessible living situation with enough room for his multigenerational family and space for the medical equipment he increasingly needed.
